Need help with a human rights complaint?
Remedy Australia is not a legal organisation and can't offer you advice or assistance with human rights complaints, but you may try these organisations. Information on how to make a complaint and (optional) forms you may use are available. Remember: complaints about Australia are currently only possible under the:
- ICCPR (civil and political rights)
- Torture Convention (CAT)
- Disability Convention (CRPD)
- Women's Convention (CEDAW)
- Race Discrimination Convention (CERD)
Helpful information from the UN about the complaints procedures under each of these treaties.
Remember also: complainants to the UN Committees must give their name and birth date, but can request anonymity when the final decision is published. If details of your case are sensitive or might place you in danger, be sure to ask for anonymity.
